Duration: One-year contract, with the option to extend to up three years

Background & Context
Visit Waterford is a collaborative partnership between Waterford City & County Council and private tourism interests across County Waterford.
The Mission of the group is to work together to develop and promote the tourism offering across Waterford City and County, delivering increased visitor numbers (both domestic and international) and a consistent, quality visitor experience. The group provides a voice on tourism related issues in the City and County (and the wider South-East region) and are particularly concerned with marketing, public relations, digital and social media, promotional activity and supporting product development.

Sales & Marketing Executive Responsibilities and Duties
The main purpose of this role is to develop Waterford City & County as a tourism destination. The role will lead the delivery and implementation of the Tourism Analysis and Promotional Plan for Waterford City & County to ensure that the objectives of the Visit Waterford are achieved to the highest standard. This will be executed through the marketing and promotion of the visitor, hospitality, retail, food & entertainment product/services experiences of the city and county to the domestic and international markets.

Key duties & responsibilities
Marketing & media
 Implement the Tourism Analysis and Promotional Plan. Develop and manage all marketing, advertising, promotional and publicity activities carried out to promote Waterford City & County. These activities will be overseen and decided on by Visit Waterford
 Promote the Visit Waterford brand, ensuring brand awareness at all opportunities
 Collaborating with agencies and other stakeholders to influence tourism development
 Ensure that any marketing, promotional material, or sponsorship campaigns that are launched are compatible with the organisation's brand image
 Act as a progressive advocate for the region and the development of the Visit Waterford brand, particularly promoting the importance of tourism to business and stakeholders in the region
 Assist and support Visit Waterford members in selling the destination and the visitor experience
 Identify and build synergies between different tourism product offerings to deliver a top-quality visitor experience
 Liaising with stakeholders to generate database of events taking place in the area with point of contact and promote said events
 Work closely and seek to foster and maintain relationships with key industry groups, partner organisations, local authorities and individuals in the region to ensure that everyone buys into the Visit Waterford brand

 Management of the administration needs of Visit Waterford. This will include scheduling meeting and minute taking for Executive and Board Meetings
 Ensure that Visit Waterford implement an efficient procurement and audit of services and finances
 Preparation of regular progress reports and budgets for presentation to the Visit Waterford Board. Agree marketing budgets with the Board of Directors
 Supporting sub-committees/working groups as decided by Visit Waterford
 Identify potential opportunities for additional funding, both from governmental and non-governmental agencies and sources
 Preparation and submission of funding applications and reports
 Prepare a system of record for competition of annual finances and awards

Digital & Social
 Digital Marketing- Generate monthly report from Google Alerts & Google Analytics. Management of social media platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo, YouTube & TripAdvisor)
 Review and update the website content regularly in conjunction with Council Tourism department, liaising with users, staff and other stakeholders. Source content. Generate monthly report about website activity. Identify, record and curate other websites where Visit Waterford should be listed
 Keep the events calendar on the website up-to-date with all relevant events in the City and County

 Proactively seek out good news stories, prepare press releases and media/press briefing notes regarding same. Liaising with stakeholders for content creation for social media, e-newsletter, press releases and copy for tourism guides/newsletters
 Handle media queries for Visit Waterford
 Liaise with Travel trade, media and Tourism Agencies

 The candidate will have experience in a related discipline such as Tourism, Business or Marketing
 Digital Marketing experience required
 This is a supportive role to facilitate implementation of the Visit Waterford Marketing/sales objectives in Ireland and abroad
 A good understanding of, and experience in, management & marketing strategies promoting Waterford and Irelands Ancient East
 Excellent computer literacy to include MS Office, social and digital media platforms
 Project management skills are essential, and the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously and to a high standard
 A creative and innovative mindset is required
 The ideal candidate will be flexible to achieve targets and complete projects
 The successful candidate will be self-motivated, a self-starter and results driven
 Excellent planning and organisation skills and the ability to use resources effectively and efficiently
 The ability to build and maintain relationships and networks is essential for this role
 Flexibility on working hours will be required as evening and weekend working will be an essential part of the role

 Experience with successful funding applications
 Demonstration of interagency work to add value to the marketing strategy, for example, with County Councils, Failte Ireland, Local Enterprise Boards etc.
